Substance use affects those who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer/questioning (LGBTQ) at higher rates than their heterosexual counterparts. Little is known about the risk for substance use in LGBTQ adolescents, however, existing survey data suggests significant differences in substance use prevalence rates between U.S. and Florida high school students who identify as lesbian, gay, and/or bisexual and their heterosexual counterparts.
